Co-Founder & Partner Inquiry
The architecture is ready.
The market is arriving.
The Thesis
Law firms handle the most sensitive communications in the country — criminal defence, corporate M&A, wrongful conviction appeals. The idea that this data should live on a vendor's cloud server, accessible to engineers in another jurisdiction, was always a temporary compromise. The legal industry knows it. They just didn't have a better option.
LexSort was built to be that option. It runs entirely on the firm's own hardware. Every document, every communication, every matter — processed and organized locally, with no data leaving the building. No API calls to third-party models. No vendor access. No exposure.
"The software is built for the future. We're waiting for the hardware to catch up — and that wait is measured in months, not decades."
On-device inference is advancing faster than most people realize. Apple Silicon, NVIDIA edge hardware, and enterprise-grade local compute are eliminating the performance gap that once made cloud AI necessary. LexSort's architecture — built local-first from day one — becomes more powerful with every hardware cycle. Competitors who built on cloud APIs will have to rebuild from scratch to get here. We're already here.
Where We Are
LexSort is in private pilot with a select group of Ontario criminal defence firms. The core engine — matter intelligence, document routing, communication matching — is functional and running in production environments. We are pre-revenue, pre-seed, and in the process of incorporating as an independent entity.
This is the stage where the right partner changes everything. Not an advisor. Not a consultant. Someone who wants to be in the room when this is decided.
Who We're Looking For
You've done this before — not necessarily in legal tech, but in selling complex software to professional services, building enterprise relationships, or scaling a team from single digits to something real. Specifically:
- Legal tech or enterprise software operator — You've sold to law firms, accountancies, healthcare systems, or similarly regulated environments. You understand the buying cycle, the compliance questions, and the trust required.
- Former managing partner or general counsel — You know what firms actually need, what they'll pay for, and who makes the decision. You have relationships we can't manufacture.
- Technologist who sees around corners — You understood that cloud wasn't the permanent answer. You see where local AI and on-device compute are going, and you want to be early.
- Operator, not just investor — This isn't an advisory conversation. We're looking for a co-founder who wants to build — someone who brings domain weight, not just capital.
The Offer
Meaningful co-founder equity. We're at the stage where the right person gets a real stake in what this becomes — not an advisor grant, not a token percentage. The structure and terms will be discussed directly. We're not in a rush and we're not taking the first call.
If you've built something, sold something, or led something in a space adjacent to this — and you're at a point in your career where you want one more swing that matters — this is worth a conversation.
